Cinematography: Ravi K. Chandran

Director: Aditya Chopra

Released Date: December 12, 2008

Story :

A typical tale, the story begins with Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh) who works with the Punjab Power and he is a very 9 to 5 kind of man rather soft spoken and subdued in nature. Life goes like a straight line for him until he chances upon Taani (Anushka) and in no time he is completely in a whirlwind of emotions. She happens to be his exact opposite with her fun loving nature and her vivacious mentality. As fate would have it, Taani ends up with Surinder and in fact she gets married to him instead of the guy she wanted to marry. As expected, she despises the very presence of Surinder but his love for her is stronger by the day. So he finally decides to win her heart by taking up a new form and that is Raj. He becomes the dance partner for Taani since her dream is to win the reality dance show. So Surinder becomes Raj, the flamboyant and highly energetic dance partner and gets back to his original self in the evening. In no time, Taani is smitten by Raj and there comes a time when she decides to elope with him. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation :

The director has come out with a rather inconceivable plot when looked practically but then the strength lies in its presentation with some splendid camerawork and an equally gripping music that sets the moods in motion. With a typical Yashraj film backdrop, the dialogues are written wittily and the script though written with loose ends finds itself held under a tight grip. The screenplay has been decent and editing was neat. The narrative of the film has been on a decent scale and the contrast to a modern and hip protagonist to a rather subdued one is well portrayed. Shahrukh is at his best while Anushka has proved that she has substance in her though it is her debut film. The real show stealer in a way was Vinay Pathak who came up with a mind blowing performance and the rest like Dara Singh and the long listed family members did their bit to contribute to the movie.

Conclusion :

The story of the film is definitely not a convincing one when looked at it realistically or even emotionally but then it is all in the presentation and the comedy elements that really elevated the film to a different level. While the first half goes about with the confusions, twists of fate and the comedies it is the second half where things tend to get serious and it must be said that the climax and the final twenty minutes of the film are quite captivating. The film has it all when it comes to pure entertainment and some filmy romance but then it may not appeal to those who look for a message or some sort of catch factor that can influence the hearts. All in all, this will be a money grosser given the magnitude and appeal of Shahrukh but it will take some word of mouth and positive publicity to see it as a blockbuster hit.Verdict : Watch it only once..

Ghazini reveiw

Movie Review:Ghajini
Rating :3.75/5
Banner :Geetha Arts
Cast :Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat, Tinu Anand, Khalid Siddiqui
Action: Peter Heins
Cinematography: Ravi K. Chandran
Editor: Anthony
Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi
Co-Producer : Allu Sirish
Music: A R Rahman
Producer: Tagore Madhu & Madhu Mantena
Director: A.R. Murugadoss
Released Date: December 25, 2008

Story:

A very different story, the tale begins with a past where Sanjay Singhania (Aamir) is a smart and suave business tycoon. His life changes when he meets Kalpana (Asin) the very talkative and bubbly girl, life goes hunky dory until a tragedy happens and Kalpana is killed brutally. During this, Sanjay also is badly injured and he ends up having a short term memory loss. He is a changed man altogether and from then on he has only one thing in mind- revenge and to catch the killer. In order to cope up with his memory loss, he has a Polaroid camera with him to keep pictures and then his body is tattooed with pieces of information. His profile catches the attention of Sunita (Jiah) and she tries to befriend him in many ways. However, Sanjay has no time for that and he is solely on a blood seeking mission. Is he able to find the killer? Who is the killer? Can Sanjay do something about his memory? You must watch the movie to find this out.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a rather unusual subject and true to its originality, he has been good with his narration and remarkable with his presentation. Full marks go to the screenplay for being executed magnificently and the script that was written so well with the twists and turns. Dialogues are worthy, music has been par excellence and there are atleast three songs that will haunt for the coming time. Cinematography again was mesmerizing and the lighting effects were dazzling. Editing was crisp and to the core. Costumes and locations were well chosen and created enough visual appeal. Coming to the cast, Asin came out with an exemplary performance and showed her true mettle. Jiah was hot and sexy though covered completely and the actress in her is seen. Pradeep Rawat was evil personified and he showed his dark side to the fullest potential. The real show stealer however was Aamir Khan who came in with an award winning performance and though his lines were just a few, it was his body language and expressions that stole the show.

Conclusion:

Though it has been believed to be the remake of the foreign film 'Memento', the director has been wise enough to just take a leaf or two but create his own story and fill it with the required elements of suspense and twists. While the first half of the film goes about with a past and gets it to the present with equal ease, the second half takes you back to the past again and culminates into a spellbinding and shocking climax. Though the length is high, the pace of the film keeps the audience glued to their seat. Technically and content wise, the film happens to be an amazing venture and it has success written all over it, however comparison might arise with the original when the southern audience see it since they have already seen the original. This could well be a blockbuster.

Think Twice Buying Iphone..

By LOTUZBUNTY
!! BEWARE OF BUYING iPhone 3G!!!

Friends.....those of you in India planning for iPhone... THINK TWICE
BEFORE MAKING A DECISION... The short comings of iPhone are endless...

1. No video calling,

2. No AD2P on the Bluetooth,

3. CAN'T share ANY (mp3, images, videos....) files via bluetooth,

4. Can't use as a wireless modem, (you pay ridiculous data charges to
activate internet on your phone, but cannot connect it to your PC and
browse when you are at home)

5. No copy and paste,(cannot copy a part of a.... say.... email & send
it....have to type it out yourself)

6. No 3.2 or 5 megapixel camera,(the 2MP camera it carries is worst
camera i've ever seen..... photos look like they have come out of a
VGA camera)

7. No video recording with camera,

8. No front camera,

9. No flash.

10. No JAVA support

11. No physical keyboard (BELIEVE me! this alone is a
dealbreaker...touch keyboard as good as it looks...once you use it
then only you come to know about the importance of having a hard
keypad)

12. No 3G network yet in India..So why pay for expensive 3G phone if
you can't use its 3G services ... so, for India, iPhone 2.0 is no
better than its first version

13. No removable battery. (You cannot change battery. Have to send it
to apple outlet.. Come on now!!!!...This is not an iPod. Its a bloody
phone. You cannot live without phone for 2-3 days)

14. No hap tic feedback and

15. Cannot send MMS,

16. Can't use as external storage device (16 GB of utter waste..next
time you go to your friend's house & find some interesting songs,
movies, etc...Sorry you cannot connect your '16 GB' phone and share
it!!!! Apple apparently has a solution.. " BUY MUSIC & MOVIES FROM
iTUNES STORE "..... Give me a break will you APPLE!!!)

17. No FM radio,

18. Can't use your mp3 files as ringtones,(This is heights man!!!)

19. Cannot insert any other SIM card….

20. Completely tied to iTunes... Connect to your friend's iTunes & you
risk erasing everything on your phone.

list goes on & on & on….

We Indians are used to these features. Most of our phones already have
these features. we cannot do with out them.... i mean can you imagine
paying so much for a phone with which you cannot transfer files via
bluetooth. What age is this ...STONE AGE???

Some features may be activated by jailbreak.. But why the hell should
you risk losing your warranty after paying so much.

And want to add third party softwares??.. YOU HAVE TO BUY THEM FROM
iTUNES STORE ONLY!!! . (Shell out more money). Apple is a bloody
control freak. Dont surrender your freedom to it.

It's good for American market (who have no idea what mobile
freedom/choice is) which is in stone age compared to asian/european
markets. When they want to buy a phone, they have to go to network
operators and buy only those phones that are available on that
network. & stick to that company till their contract expires. You want
to change carriers? Not before paying damages, & buying another phone
on the other network again.

On the contrary, we in India have so much freedom. We go to handset
shops & buy which ever phone we like. Then go to carriers.. Checkout
the plans & buy SIM.. Dont like the plan or rival carrier came up with
a better plan???? EASY.. just remove & replace the SIM.

Apple are trying to IMPOSE THEIR MODEL ON US riding on the hype iPhone
has created in the US (yes it was a flop in Europe .thats why Apple
never talks about its sales in Europe).

Dont fall for the subsidized price of iPhone... CHECKOUT THE DATA PLAN
ATTACHED TO ITS SIM..they will recover the cost through ridiculous
data plans. Bill might come to around Rs 2500/month.(ATLEAST AMERICANS
PAY THAT MUCH)

Let me clear one thing though.. Iphone is the best looking phone (its
touch interface is nothing like you have ever seen ), best browsing
experience out there no doubt .... ( others are fast catching
up..Check out the android demo at Google IO 2008).... BUT AFTER A FEW
DAYS IT ALL COMES DOWN TO FUNCTIONALITY...

Those of who buy it... You will be most happy for atmost a week...
then, MARK MY WORDS...YOU WILL START REGRETTING IT!!!

My advice...WAIT FOR HTC DREAM!! (Powered by android). Still not
convinced by then...by all means go for iPhone...

So friends lets spread this info to all our friends and help them in
making a wise decision..... those of you who have bought unlocked
versions already please share your experiences with others

I do not want the new 3G iPhone

By LOTUZBUNTY

The iPhone 3G was launched by Steve jobs on 9th June 2008, in his well-known Keynote Address at the Apple WWDC 2008. The first impression that I made of the 3G iPhone was WOW, a 3G phone with excellent multi-touch interface, faster internet and that also for $199, what more would I have asked for. But hang on a second when I thought about it more I have come to a conclusion that I might not go for a 3G iPhone when it comes to India, I am happy with my iPod Touch 8GB. There is some rationale behind me not longing for the iPhone. iPhone though this time it is a 3G one is not actually a multimedia phone, I wish, instead of comparing iPhone’s 3G with that of Nokia N95 8GB’s 3G, Steve Jobs would have gone ahead and compared multimedia capabilities of both these phones. You know who the winner is, certainly not iPhone. Surprisingly, when Flash technology has become an integral part of phones that are optimized for internet browsing, iPhone 3G does not support it, what the f***!!!
The other factors that hold me from going for the new iPhone 3G are, battery cannot be replaced, if you want to do that, you will end up doing some serious damage to the sleek exoskeleton of the iPhone; the camera is the same old crappy camera that was there on the old iPhone; you cannot do video recording (most of the phones today have video recording facility either in VGA or digital format); you cannot send MMS, are you kidding..no I am not, it’s a well known fact that iPhone cannot send MMS; I cannot install third party applications of my choice that are freely available, I have to go through the App. Store; the phone also lacks voice dialing functionality.
The features mentioned above are part and parcel of the mobile phones that are launched these days, but they are not there in the iPhone 3G, so why should I go for it??

2012!!!!!!! another to8

By LOTUZBUNTY

2012 is going to be a busy year.

The year 2023 is by many separate accounts seen as being a portal into what some people call the Golden Age. 2012 marks according to the The Mayan Calendar, the ending of time as we know it. The Mayan calendar has proven to be one of the most accurate time keeping systems known to human kind. It has tracked without fail every solar eclipse every lunar eclipse and even takes into account changes in the rotation of the earth and the speed of the rotation of the earth to accomodate for this.

The Maya also predicted that in the year 1996 an inter-dimensional network would be created and that would enable everyone to see and communicate with each other thousands of miles away. Cound this be Internet web cams?

Scholars have known for decades that the 13-baktun cycle of the Mayan calendar system of timekeeping was set to end precisely on December 21, 2012, the winter solstice. That this system was put in place some 2300 years ago is an astonish fact. How was it that ancient Mesoamerican skywatchers were able to pinpoint a winter solstice that far off into the future?

The book 2012: "Mayan Year of Destiny" claims that the Maya may have been instructed in their wisdom by disembodied entities from Orion and the Pleiades. Contact was maintained through shamanic rituals conducted in accordance with the movements of planets and stars.

2012 is sometimes claimed to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse to some). Various sources interpret the completion of the thirteenth B'ak'tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar occuring on December 21 to mean there will bemajor change in the world order.

Why Did They Choose The Year 2012?

The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun). The ancient Maya recognized this as the "Sacred Tree". This is an event that has been coming into focus very slowly over thousands of years. It will all come to a conclusion at exactly 11:11 am Greenwich Mean Time.

Things That Will Happen in 2012

The works of James Joyce will enter the public domain.

433 Eros, the second-largest Near Earth Object on record is expected to pass by earth in a near miss.

If she is still on the throne, Elizabeth II will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

The United States Census of 1940 will be released to the public.
On April 17 The United States will cede control of the military of the Republic of Korea after 50 years of control.

On July 27 the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics will begin in London at 7:30 pm.

On October 19 the Earth will be home to 7 billion people, according to the US Census Bureau.

The Replacement Eastern Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge will open to traffic, replacing the old Eastern cantilever span that was damaged in the Earthquake in 1989, almost a quarter century after the span was damaged.

California's ban on the production of foie gras is scheduled to take effect.

NASA's new Orion spacecraft is scheduled to become fully operational for International Space Station support flights.

The Freedom Tower in New York City is scheduled to be finished by 2012 on the site of the World Trade Center.

Charles Manson will be eligible for a parole hearing again.

According to the 1997 book "The Bible Code" certain algorithms of the Bible code reveal that a meteor, asteroid or comet will collide with the earth. Could this be 433 Eros?

The book "The Nostradamus Code" speaks of a series of natural disasters caused by a comet (possibly as above) that will allow the third Antichrist to disperse his troops around the globe under the guise of aid in preparation for a possible nuclear war.

The book "The Orion Prophecy" claims that the earth's magnetic field will reverse.

Some proponents of a peak oil catastrophe place major events in 2012. Richard C. Duncan's book "The Peak of World Oil Production and the Road To The Olduvai Gorge" claims that the Olduvai cliff will begin and permanent blackouts will occur worldwide. Several studies predict a peak in oil production in or around 2012.

Is the clock ticking on the end of the world? Or the end of the world as we know it?

What will happen on December 21, 2012? How the world is getting ready for that day?

By LOTUZBUNTY

The Mayan civilization predicted that on December 21, 2012 something will happen to the world we know. Something will happen that will change our civilization, value systems and the way we know human civilization forever.

What does that means? What did the Mayan see through their spiritual wisdom?

According to scientists and technologists something strange is happening behind the scene. The terrestrial and solar polar reversal peaks are coming within three weeks of that day, December 21, 2012. Innumerable UFOs are scouting our skies regularly and increasing as we approach that day. The tectonic plate shifts, underwater volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and Tsunamis are increasing at rates never seen before. The solar flares are increasing. The earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere are experiencing strange disturbances. The numbers of typhoons and cyclones have increased many folds. The number of floods and droughts has increased beyond imaginations in the last ten years.

Scientists who look beyond conventional science point out that that the Hyperspace that contain our Universe is also showing signs that something strange is happening in our universe. The multidimensional time research is showing that a parallel universe may be predicting strange effects.

According to some scientists it is possible that another Universe is slowly starting to claim a spatial dimension in our physical Universe. It is also possible that we will face major calamities because of the polar reversal in the Sun and in Earth. If that happens, it is possible that the hyperspace has to adjust the suction force known as gravity and Electromagnetic force fields to keep the earth and the solar system intact.

The biggest clue to what will happen comes from astrophysicists. There is a big possibility that the simultaneous polar reversal in earth and sun will throw the solar system out of whack. That will cause massive upheaval in the earth. At that point of time, the extraterrestrials will officially show up and put “cosmic seat belts” around us as they apply the superpower of the Hyperspace to bring the solar system back to what it is today.

According to think tanks, this has happened before. The extraterrestrials take care of the earth and the solar system whenever the solar system faces challenges like that.

THATS WHAT ALL THE MANAGEMENT LESSON IS..

By LOTUZBUNTY
Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam at Wharton India Economic
forum , Philadelphia , March 22,2008)

Question: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how
leaders should manage failure?

Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project
director of India's satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called
the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India 's "Rohini" satellite into orbit by
1980. I was given funds and human resources -- but was told clearly that
by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people
worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.

By 1979 -- I think the month was August -- we thought we were ready.

As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At
four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go
through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute
later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed
that some control components were not in order. My experts -- I had four
or five of them with me -- told me not to worry; they had done their
calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the
computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first
stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed.
Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system
plunged into the Bay of Bengal. It was a big failure.

That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof.
Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am,
and the press conference -- where journalists from around the world were
present -- was at 7:45 am at ISRO's satellite launch range in
Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India ]. Prof. Dhawan, the
leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He
took responsibility for the failure -- he said that the team had worked
very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the
media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed. Now, I
was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took
responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.

The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite --
and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there
was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, "You
conduct the press conference today."

I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the
leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he
gave it to his team. The best management lesson I have learned did not
come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience.

INFLATION AT 13%

By LOTUZBUNTY

Crude Prices, Political Uncertainty set to drag Economic Growth to 7.5%, SAY S EXPERT

Inflation is likely to peak to around 13% over the next two months before it gradually moderating to around 8.5-9% by end of this fiscal, economists have said. he country’s economic growth too would moderate below earlier forecast of 8% to around the 7.5-7.8% level in FY09, they said. “I expect inflation to peak to around 12.5-13% in the next two months before beginning to decline. But double-digit inflation will continue at least for the next 4-5 months,’’ YES Bank chief economist Shubhada Rao said here.

Global fuel prices present the most important concern to policy makers, the economists said. “Inflation will be contingent upon oil prices,’’ Crisil director and principal economist D K Joshi said. “Prices of products such as aviation turbine fuel and naphtha have shot up 40% year-on-year,’’ Enam Securities chief economist Sachidanand Shukla said. While inflation would peak at around 12.5-13%, Joshi expected the yearly average inflation rate to be around the 8.5-9% mark. This figure, again, is much higher than the 5.5% projected by some economists earlier. Rao, however, pegged the average at a much higher 9-9.5%.

Economic growth would be below the 8%-mark, “maybe even below the 7.5%-mark’’, Bank of Baroda chief economist Rupa Rege Nitsure said. But other economists such as Joshi and Enam’s Shukla felt that it would be around 7.8%. “Growth will definitely slow down given the rate hikes, but I don’t expect it to fall sharply. It will be around the 7.8% mark,’’ Shukla said. YES Bank’s Rao said that even pessimists were forecasting a 7% growth. “Amid the present global turbulence and domestic headwinds, 7% is still very healthy,’’ she said.

Food prices are expected to ease in the next few months. Much would, however, depend upon the monsoon, the economists said, but with a good one forecast, they expect a healthy kharif crop which would help in pushing down food prices. On whether the RBI would further hike the repo rate and cash reserve ratio (CRR), most economists expect a 0.25-0.5% hike in the repo but were divided over its timing. A CRR hike would, however, depend upon prevailing liquidity conditions, they said. While some expected the RBI to hike rates in July, others felt that the RBI might do so later. However, all are agreed that inflation would continue to occupy centre-stage throughout this fiscal.

IPHONE!!!!!!3G INDIAN STORY

By LOTUZBUNTY
BANGALORE: Vodafone and Airtel started pre-registering customers for the iPhone 3G this week, and ever since, offices and blogs have been abuzz with discussions on what Apple’s much-awaited product will be priced at.

Many think it will be just a shade over Rs 8,000 — the rupee equivalent of the price in the US, which is $199. Now, that’s a fantastic price for the 8GB product, and will certainly have every competitor worried.

Nokia’s 8GB N95 smartphone , for instance, is priced at well over Rs 25,000, and its new N96 is expected to come at over Rs 36,000.

But we think the iPhone, expected to hit the Indian market in September, will be priced substantially higher than Rs 8,000.

The $199 price is a hugely subsidised one, subsidised by the US operator AT&T. Market researcher iSuppli has just estimated that mobile phone service providers are subsidising each handset to the extent of $300.
Some other analysts think the subsidy is higher at $350 per unit. In other words, the actual price that AT&T pays to Apple for each iPhone unit is $499, going by the iSuppli estimate.

Vodafone and Airtel are unwilling to talk about the price they will offer the iPhone at, but Bharti Airtel CEO Manoj Kohli told TOI there is no question of subsidising the handset in India. “US operators are able to subsidise handsets because they can make up for that with their call charges. They charge rates like 25 cents a minute. In India, the charge is 1.5 to 2 cents a minute,” Kohli said.

In the absence of a subsidy then, the handset could be priced at $499 or a little over Rs 21,000 (governmental levies on mobile phones in India are marginal).

Unless Apple chooses to offer the iPhone at lower margins to countries like India. iSuppli estimates it costs Apple just $173 to produce the latest version (excluding the cost of software development, shipping, distribution, packaging and accessories included with each iPhone). So it enjoys a huge margin on the product.

We’ll have to see if Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs is willing to sacrifice some of that.

But any which way, even at a price of Rs 21,000, the iPhone looks certain to sizzle the handset market.
